Hi Clem, I don't know where the rotating images on the website came from - obviously the webmaster placed them there. It would be nice to see if we could get several dozen of the finest knowns and super rarities on there, just something to make us drool on our keyboards. I suspect that the webmaster responsible just used an image of something nice and was not after the best available. Ray

hey mike,
i couldn't remember exactly what the plaque read. i couldn't find that newsletter and went to the C4 site but it wasn't there either. i did see one of my NJ's as one of the revolving images though and found that interesting and wondered who choose those and why that one? it's far from one of my best ;-).
Clem

Clem, He should have read the plaque first, before making fun of C4. As I recall, the plaque said the first mint of the British Colonies in North America. I don't think Mexico qualifies. Mike

I was reading my issue of the NUMISMATIST this afternoon and it seems a few folks are having a few laughs at C4's expense. On page 17 there is a letter to the editor from life member Richard A. Long pointing out the plaque recently placed at the site of the "first mint" in North America (in Boston) states it was established during 1652 but he reminds us that Mexico began striking metallic currency in 1536, over one hundred years earlier. And yes, Mexico is in North America. Clem
