On the seemly never ending issue of counterfeits in the numismatic marketpl=
ace, a good piece of news has arrived. The Royal Candian Mounted Police hav=
e taken a bold step-in the case of Canadian replicas-of enforcing their law=
with ebay that this material is indeed counterfeit, regardless of the inten=
tions of the sellers and whether or not such items include the word "copy" =
or replica embedded on the surface of the coin. Such items are illegal to b=
uy, sell, or own. And as a result of the Canadian government's discussions =
with ebay, all such items were immediately pulled from the Canadian version=
of its website, and within days from its US version as well.
From the July 24,issue of The Coin Dealer newsletter.

Looks like the Canadians are going to have to resort to the Non-regal phras=
e.<s> Seriously though, I wonder how they view contemporary counterfeits si=
nce there are thousands of contemporary British, Irish, and Spanish counte=
rfeit pieces. The statement that counterfeits are illegal to "own" is prett=
    y scary to me.
