As I looked through the C4 catalog, I thought back to my first year as a me=
mber. I had collected colonials off and on since before C4 and had been a m=
ember of EAC and the ANA. I loved the B&M, Heritage, and Early American Num=
ismatics catalogs, when they would have a few pages of colonials, and seein=
g these pages, and reading the descriptions of the coins may have been what=
initially peaked my interest in colonial coins. I've seen old catalogs I h=
ad, and my bid sheets, with the federal era coins marked with my bids...som=
e of the time the bid sheet was mailed in so was missing, but other times, =
it remained in the catalog with my "Mind Bidding" to see if I would have ha=
d a chance at winning the coins. It was like going to the track and making =
"Mind Bets" to see how you would have done at the end of the card.=20

Back to my C4 first year. I paid my dues, and joined some groups online. It=
was great!! The people were all nice, and very diverse, yet all shared the=
love of colonial coins which is what brought everyone together. Without th=
e coins, close to 100% of us would probably never have met. I loved C4. Whe=
n the catalog came, my expectations were of a decent catalog, without many =
extras. No more than the few pages a B&M or Heritage catalog would produce.=
Afterall, this was a club, and they were huge auction houses. When the 1st=
    catalog arrived, I was in shock. This wasn't a catalog....it was a book!!!=
! well over 140 pages of nothing but colonial coins!!! Big beautiful photos=
and detailed descriptions!!! Some who have been around a long time may get=
a bit "jaded" and I felt I may be. I've come to expect nothing less than t=
his tremendous colonial book!! This year, I looked through the catalog, and=
just thought back to the first time I saw a C4 catalog, and my
disbelief that something this professional, packed with so many beautiful =
coins, could be produced by a club asking $20 a year in dues. This is a fan=
tastic club, and if=A0you make it to=A0the convention, give Tom Rinaldo and=
all those responsible for producing such a wonderful catalog all these yea=
rs a standing ovation, and a big pat on the back. They absolutely derserve =
    it!!!
