The coins arrived today, and as far as I can tell, they look fine...but Ray= is the expert on these...(he loves when I say that<s>)....these are scans,= and some done with the door closed, the edges obviously opened, but the co= ins, aside from the 1/2 dime seem to have very similar toning. The edges on= the cut piece seem toned the same as the rest of the coin, and where the d= arker toning appears is similar. I've included large scans of the edges. Th= e cut piece weighs 1.31 grams. King Louis=A0ruled just 7 months before his = untimely death. and I can actually attribute this down to the KM#328 based = on the Assayer initial of F and the partial legend showing the monarch. It = was struck under King Louis, minted in Segovia, with the assayer initial F = for Fernando Vazquez and Fernando Vargas. =A0 Of course comparing these to Rays known dug cut pieces side by side will he= lp solidify my belief that these were dug and the 2 reales was already cut = when lost. My eye tells me it's good, and the sellers way of listing these,= and his story seems to validate this. But Ray being the utmost authority o= n cut silver<s>...just kidding, but he has several, and it will help to com= pare next time I see him. =A0 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_I_of_Spain =A0 I had planned to sell the other pieces to cheapen the cost of the cut piece= , but have reconsidered, feeling to break up the family would actually not = be a good thing...interesting to see the American trime is holed...I guess = the size made that a neccesity to keep from losing it....most of the time.<= s>....likewise with the 1772 Mexican 1/2 reale, which is the inverted assay= ers initials type. --0-1490586437-1270831269=:13480 Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
