I went metal detecting this morning, thanks to the hot weather finally taki= ng a break, so I took advantage to go out and get some exercise.
My short hunt was interesting, I got a button that is around1800 by the bac= kmark, and it has an acorn in the center, sort of remember that had some s= ignificant meaning back than, I think :>)
Then I got two coppers close to each other, I knew the one was a Large Cent= but had no idea on what the other smaller one was till I got home and soak= ed them in peroxide.
Also, a possible musket part? any experts out there??
OK, the NJ appears to be a 14-J
But, the Large Cent might be my rarest Large Cent I ever found, even a rare= r variety than my 1794 S-19a. It appears to be a Sheldon NC-2. I know = a few Large Cent experts in this group so hoping my attribution is correct.= I feel badly the coin has nice detail but the ground was not kind to it a= t all. Did the best I could on restoring/conserving it.
