Didn't Wood win some award like "Worst Director Ever"? And yet, despite how cheesy his work was, they have survived in cult form far longer than many of his less-cheesy contemporaries! Poor Bela Lugosi though -- actually pretty much ALL of the movie monsters of the era never really found much work since they were all so associated with those roles....though Boris Karloff did at least do a good job on How the Grinch Stole Christmas (voice only, of course!).

Bela Lugosi's best line in the movie Ed Wood -- "Beware, beware, beware of the big green dragon that sits on your doorstep. He eats little boys, puppy-dog tails, and big fat snails. Beware, take care, beware." But it was actually a line Lugosi mumbled somewhat incoherently in Glen or Glenda, a somewhat drunken riff on a song about a 13-tailed dragon from the 1920's I think!

If you think Plan 9 was cheesy, you really owe it to yourself to check out Wood's other cult classic, "Glen, or Glenda". How many movies can you find with extended shots of a radiator while an obviously drugged up Bela Lugosi narrates? They just don't make 'em like they used to.

Nope...that is just too cheesy to watch from beginning to end. I mean the movie "Ed Wood" with Johnny Deep as Ed Wood and I forgot right now the name of the guy from Mission Impossible who was fabulous as Bella Lagossi.

I can see that collector, after reading this incredible book and seeing what Will wrote, saying " WOW. Let me see what I can find in this guy!" Only to do a google search and find a drunken rambling email about throwing his colonial coins into the Raritan river because ebay keeps screwing him and he can't drive the cab because his injuries and has to take meds that make it illegal to drive a cab and he's just gonna sell 15 coins he paid 300 each for as a group lot for 800 dollars because 7 day auctions are too long and he needs money NOW! Would read like the later stages of Bela Lugosi's career.

I was lucky enough to finally purchase a cop y of In Yankee Doodle's Pocket at the BBQ. Will had brought 1 copy along. I asked him to sign it, and joking said "Sign it to Steve Frank or Taxi Steve, the greatest numismatist I've ever met". I had assumed he just signed it To Steve, best of luck Will Nipper" or something similar.....see attached!!!<VBG>
