http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3D260673273510 =A0 Very nice family. I stopped by for 15 minutes to look at the coin 2 days ag= o figuring it would help me decide how bad the photo was and how good the c= oin was, and I love die breaks and wanted to get a couple of good photos to= compare the die state. After looking at the coin and having checked auctio= n results for 3 auction houses, I figured the grade etc. The coin is strong= on the side opposite the fox, (but kind of flat on the fox side) and the f= ields are kind of "baggy" (what we used to say about Morgans that were boun= ced around in a bag), but not corroded. The color was ok, but I figured it = had sat for many years and some xylol and blue ribbon would have made it a = very attractive medium brown. There was a small spot of verdigris in one of= the 8's that I felt could have been worked on. The rim had dings right aro= und it...not something I liked, but=A0the dings didn't enter the fields at = all. For me to bid just under 800 on an R4 coin, I had to like it, but at 777.77 I felt I was not getting a great bargain, just true value. O= ne last thing, there were a couple of gouges...not jagged, but rounded=A0in= to the shiled...3 or 4....and oddly enough, they didn't affect my feelings = about the coin all that much, even though I knew they were post strike.=20 =A0 I'm happy they did well. They had the grandkids over eating lunch when I go= t there, and everyone seemed happy to see a stranger, including the dog. I = noticed a ramp leading up to the front door and when I got in, the father t= old me they have a daughter in a wheel chair, who I didn't get to meet...mu= st have been the shy one. Nice middle class people in a blue collar area of= PA, obviously educated...not a bunch of hillbillies...the story behind the= coin is interesting. The husband didn't know his wife had the coins. She h= ad a box about 8 inches deep by 12 inches by 18 inches that her grandfather= left her packed with coins.....gold and silver, and tons of Indian Head "P= ennies", which they sent off to Bowers and Marena and are currently awaitin= g an offer or for the coins to go to auction....not sure...and although I d= idn't say anything, I was hoping the coins are allowed to go to auction. Th= ey didn't have any other state coins,=A0but they did have a VG Lima 2 reales and a fake Guinea...game counter or counterfeit...I didn't really c= heck it out.=A0 =A0 It was only an hour drive, and I thought how great it would be to check eve= ry coin I'm interested in bidding before an auction!! I wound up buying 5 c= artons of cigarettes which saved me 100 on what I'd pay here for the 5 cart= ons, so that paid the gas, tolls and put 75 dollars in my pocket.<s> If I h= ad lost the coin to someone who had a high bid of 800, I would probably be = upset, but at the amount it sold for, I'm happy the family did well on what= Grandpop left them!!! =A0 The most fun I've had with an ebay coin I didn't win, and don't get me wron= g, it may have brought this price at auction, but it would have been a very= good day.=20 --0-1087004349-1286494995=:32337 Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
