Hi Bruce: I'm from Boston, and it seems that everyone on this thread has g= iven good advice. I would add that you'll find yourself being so wrapped u= p in the C4 convention that you won't have a lot of time for sightseeing --= well, maybe on Sunday afternoon. It's a very walkable and interesting cit= y. From the Radisson, one can make a loop by starting through the Public G= ardens, on to the Boston Common, wander by the State House and a catch the = flavor of Beacon Hill's historic townhouses, over to Tremont street where y= ou go by two colonial-era burying grounds, down Tremont til you get to Boyl= ston St., take a right and you get back to the hotel. For food, Legal Seaf= oods is close to the hotel (try the clam chowder); or you might want to hea= d over to Quincy Marketplace/Fanueil Hall, or a few blocks from there is ci= ty's oldest restaurant, Union Oyster House (dating to 1826). Near there is= the North End, specializing in Italian food. Ask at the hotel, or if we m= eet, feel free to ask me or any of the other Boston-folk.

You can sign up for these trol= leys for a day, they stop all over the city. Di= ane and I did one of these trolleys some years ago - it saved a lot of time= and walking!=20 > Ray >=20 >=20 > From: rosaamltd=20 > Sent: Saturday, November 06, 2010 9:29 PM > To: colonial-coins@yahoogroups.com=20 > Subject: Re: [Colonial Numismatics] C-4 Convention >=20 >=20 >=20 >=20 >=20 > Bruce, I will second the tax idea. It's about $10 more than the shuttle,= but you get straight to your hotel. The first few years I did the shuttle= , and my hotel would invariably be one of the last stops made, plus the shu= ttle would drive around the airport for a half hour while I was in it, as t= hey want to get as many people as possible in each van. When you take a ca= b you have to pay the tolls and all that, but it is well worth the extra ex= pense, especially if you've been on a plane for any appreciable amount of t= ime! >=20 > The city is great, VERY walkable -- but there's so much to see at the con= vention itself that it's almost impossible to get away and see much outside= the hotel! I've come in a day or two early on some years, so have had a lot of wa= lking around time -- if you find me at the convention I'd be glad to give y= ou some ideas of what is worth seeing! >=20 > Jeff Rock >=20 >=20 >=20 > In a message dated 11/06/10 16:23:21 Pacific Daylight Time, buell@... wri= tes: >=20=20=20=20=20 > Hi Bruce, > In most cities I use shuttles, because I like to save $. Contrary to what Roger Moore men= tioned, it is not blue but red and most of it is actual red bricks in the s= idewalk and streets. You can pick up the trail near the hotel at the Boston= Commons.
