Sorry to say that I am unable to attend the C4 show this year. It's one of
my favorite shows and I'll miss seeing everyone. On the other hand, the
reason I have to miss it is that I am busy putting the final touches on the
January Kolbe & Fanning catalogue of numismatic literature. This will be a
public auction at the Waldorf-Astoria, held January 8 in conjunction with
the New York International. Included in the auction will be some wonderful
books on colonials, including Sylvester Crosby's own unbound copy of The
Early Coins of America. The sale also will include the Crosby Family copy
(which was almost certainly Sylvester Crosby's bound copy) in a deluxe Nova
Constellatio binding, and five additional first edition Crosbys, including
T. Harrison Garrett's and David Proskey's. For those who are interested in
Spanish-American material, the sale will also include the Alan Luedeking
library of Latin American numismatic literature, which includes every
numismatic book published by Jos=E9 Toribio Medina and pretty much all
standard references in this field. Should be a great sale, and I hope I get
to see some of you then.
