    dollars are selling for??

    =C2=A0=20
    Been a banner day!!!! I was looking for an old photo of a riding stable I u=
    sed=20
    to go to and had to move a box. I opened the thing and remembered what was =
    in=20
    it. I think I told this story before, but about 10-12 years ago, a couple g=
    ot=20
    into the cab late at night and went to the to the city. It was probably 2 o=
    r=20
    3AM, and at the time. I told them the typical line. "I'm sorry, but it's co=
    mpany=20
    policy that all out of town fares have to be paid up front"...the guy said,=
    no=20
    problem, but you're gonna want to shoot me....all I have is change. I said =
    is it=20
    rolled, and he said no, but it's dollars so you can count it, there's a 5 d=
    ollar=20
    tip for you. I took the crinkled up brown paper bag and laid it on the pass=
    enger=20
    seat and took off saying I appreciate that and never checked...it was a bad=
    =20
    night, the dispatcher had given them a big break on the fare because they o=
    nly=20
    had 60 dollars,=C2=A0and the last thing I wanted to see was a bag full of s=
    usan b=20
    anthonys. I cursed the trains for giving them as change, knowing the cab al=
    ways=20
    wound up getting them when people had too many. I paid all the tolls out of=
    my=20
    top pocket with a plan to dump the 60 dollars worth of coins on the dispatc=
    her=20
    at book out. I dropped them off in Lower Manhattan in Little Italy and came=
    back=20
    through the Holland tunnel, got on the pike and turned the radio up. When I=
    got=20
    back there were a couple of airports waiting, so I took them and then gasse=
    d up=20
    and took the car in about 630 to book out. Cleaned the car ou, and grabbed =
    my=20
    maps and all the junk you carry driving a cab and put them into my duffle b=
    ag=20
    and walked in to book out. The dispatcher was apologizing to everyone for t=
    he=20
    slow night, like it was his fault. (Great night, the drivers are all shakin=
    g=20
    hands with the dispatcher like he's their brother who's been off to war for=
    4=20
    years and they're seeing him at the airport for the first time since he=20
    left....bad nights, everyone just growls and throws things around saying th=
    is=20
    place sucks and the dispatcher screwed them...always thought that was funny=
    =20
    about the job) Well to end the story, I looked in the bag, and it was fille=
    d=20
    with silver dollars. I just put them in the duffle bag when I saw it and bo=
    oked=20
    out. Another driver asked if anyone picked up a couple tonite who had paid =
    in=20
    silver dollars because he had=C2=A07 of them. They had taken the train in a=
    nd the cab=20
    from the train was=C2=A05 dollars and they gave him a 2 dollar tip. I didn'=
    t say a=20
    word but asked if he wanted to sell them for melt, He kept them, and I wond=
    er if=20
    he still has them, which I doubt. I remember silver was just about 5 dollar=
    s an=20
    ounce at the time. Figuring the current price of silver at 29.31 and Morgan=
    and=20
    Peace Dollars at .7344 ASW, I have 44.06 oz of silver which comes to just u=
    nder=20
    $1,291 dollars!!! A very nice find and I'm glad I didn't find it a year or =
    2=20
    back!!! The thing is, these are all decent grades and I just looked and see=
    =20
    there are 40 different date/MM's....nothing really rare, but the 35-s is a =
    nice=20
    unc and there are a few Unc PL's with really nice toning. gonna be a pain=20
    photographing....thinking about just building a set and getting rid of the=
    =20
    dupes....will have to figure that one out. I'll post a photo on my group. N=
    ow I=20
    have to figure how much these are selling for. I had just dumped some peace=
    =20
    dollars for a friend and they sold for 22 bucks apiece which I think is a l=
    ittle=20
    low, and I want to avoid ebay and its fees, so will probably just wait for =
    a=20
    coin show and show up, get a table for 5 bucks and sell them there if I do.=
    ...or=20
    just put one up on ebay and say there are 59 more available and give direct=
    ions=20
    to the contemporary counterfeits site or just my personal email. Not sure w=
    hat=20
    ebay puts up with....could also look for yahoo groups dealing in these...mo=
    st=20
    are XF but range from VG to Unc. Will help pay some bills....I never did fi=
    nd=20
    the photo. The heck with it, will post both places....as a human interest s=
    tory.=20
    Nobody ever saw them again...I kept asking the dispatcher if they called...=
    but=20
    no luck.=20=20
