As part of the Anton book XRF chapter we will be anlyzing some AK Plated Co=
ins like the RR40 and other AK plated coins or similar examples. In this ch=
apter I decided to kill two birds with one stone and include my Blackmsith =
Blank England Importation Theory data in this chapter. For those knowing th=
e series Woods 1-11 (copper issues) and Woods 13-18 (brass issues) showed i=
ncredible metal alloy similarities with one another and were not the mixed =
alloy contents we previously have seen with my previous study as in the 199=
8 COAC paper (i.e., better technology/calibration - 2012). Anyway the same =
held true for the Troy, NY die linked pieces of Woods 23-29. What did diffe=
r and was different was the post W29 pieces and none of these indicated hig=
h copper purity like the counterfeit halfpence/fathings; Evasions; or Conde=
r tokens and other Royal Mint copper issues from this period (1790-1835) fr=
om ENGLAND. My current thinking is that the blanks were imported from Engla=
nd to a recipient in Lower Canada or Troy, NY. and then struck here - there=
is too much die linking with American issues and other factors like the Ma=
chins Mills 1787/1788 core die chart pieces. I will be analyzing some Tiffi=
n copper/brass tokens since these circulated in the same time period as the=
Blackmsiths (c.1820-1840) and it seems feasible that Wood 19 does resemble=
the Joseph Tiffin imported tokens from England (confirmed) but is more cru=
de, from hand cut dies and like all Blackmsiths struck without a retaining =
collar.=20
If any person has any other ideas on their importation or manufacturing sen=
d me some THOUGHTS privately. The book will have full XRF data from my enti=
re collection. As an example Syd Martin's Wood 38 example or the G-Listed 1=
771 piece in Jeff Rock's recent CNL article in my opnion will be VASTLY dif=
ferent in its copper composition than any other English/Irish Halfpence. Je=
ff - I did not say 1771 because of all the Families I have seen this G-1771=
Irish group is by far the crudest I have seen and there may be one or two =
other Wood 38 contenders in this group being listed as W-38-c & d in my opi=
nion.
