Well I will start things off:
Not to hype up or hype down a lot but just a comment on Wood 15. See this A=
mericana lot:
http://stacksbowers.com/Auctions/AuctionLot.aspx?LotID=3D434953
The Woods 13-18 are all brass - in 1910 a W14 brass toned copper looking pi=
ece by Howland Wood was considered copper and hence the new varieity W15 wa=
s created. Of the toned copper looking W14's in my collection no CONFIRMED =
W15 has ever been confirmed and all had zinc. In the Anton book when you se=
e this W13-18 XRF analysis run you will see varying Zn levels in the brass =
compositions - combine a good oxidation environment and/or a lower than nor=
mal zinc level in the alloy we may indeed see further W14 copper looking pi=
eces being classified as W15 (tentatively as was done here). Warren Baker o=
r Michael Oppenheim has never confirmed a copper W15. If the winner of this=
lot wants to send me this Ringo speculated W15 for analysis ... well ... y=
ou know the rest ... probably of it being the first confirmed Cu alloy W15 =
... about 1/1,000,000.
Anyway - Good luck on this fabulous lot!
