Hi Guys,
In my colonial paper collection, I have several bills from colonies
that are cancelled when they were taken out of circulation. They could
have a hole, square or triangle punched out of the center, or a slice
through the note on the edge... Has anyone ever seen a NJ bill,
1709-1786, that has been cancelled in any way? I know for a fact that
cancelling was happening, but I suspect that the cancelled bills were
burned when there was no more use for them.
Any other thoughts about cancelling bills?
