    Hi Guys,
    =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0I was sharing this story about the O'Donnell Sale of NJ=
    Coppers=20
    with a friend and thought I'd share it with my friends here. =C2=A0I drove =
    to=20
    the auction in NYC with Roger Moore and we sat next to each other while=20
    the auction was running...
    =C2=A0

    =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0I came home from that sale and Diane asked if I won any=
    lots. =C2=A0I=20
    said "yes". =C2=A0She then asked how many, and I said "one". =C2=A0Then she=
    looked=20
    at me knowing I only got one coin and asked, "was it a Maris Plate Coin"=20
    and I said "yes". =C2=A0Being in banking, her next question was "how much".=
    =20
    =C2=A0I sheepishly replied "$2990". =C2=A0She asked if I had $2990, to whic=
    h I=20
    replied "no". =C2=A0Then she asked "how much do you have" and I replied=20
    "$2000". =C2=A0She quickly asked how I was going to come up with the other=
    =20
    $1K. =C2=A0I thought for a second and replied that the household budget wou=
    ld=20
    pay the difference. =C2=A0Keep in mind that Diane controls the household=20
    budget... =C2=A0She then asked why the household budget would cover the=20
    difference, to which I quickly replied: =C2=A0"Because I'm so cute?". =C2=
    =A0It=20
    worked!!! =C2=A0The household budget covered the difference! =C2=A0
    =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0That only works once. =C2=A0I haven't tried to use cute=
    ness again. =C2=A0The=20
    Maris 23-R plate coin was used for both obverse and reverse on the=20
    plate. =C2=A0I think the 23-R and the 3-C are my two favorite coins. =C2=A0=
    I'd be=20
    challenged to pick between the two.=C2=A0
    Have fun,
    Ray=C2=A0

    Ray, That is Frontenac ? ? example I think. I obtained about 5 or 10=20
    catalogs heavy on NJs from Tom Wolf who bought in a c4 bulk lot. When I=20
    received them=C2=A0 they were sort of moldy so I removed the pages of=20
    interest and got rid of the rest. I think it was mainly the covers that=20
    were moldy. Anyhow the catalogs were previously Griffee who used them to=20
    notate his opinion of grades and who purchased even who they were then=20
    sold to or purchased for. His opinion was very inconsistent concerning=20
    the correct grade of the coins ( I think ). He evidently was present for=20
    the sale OR informed about the outcome to assist his census work at the=20
    time ( my guess ).
    =C2=A0I do enjoy the history , pedigree etc of early coppers. I suspect=20
    Walter Breen made=C2=A0a comment concerning this 51 =C2=A0coin in his 1955=
    =20
    unpublished as Boyd had it and the delightful=C2=A0'ford=E2=80=99 coin.
    =C2=A0It must have been difficult collecting Jerseys back then where=20
    collectors like Boyd/Ford, Garrett, had most of the great=20
    coins............=E2=80=A6 then a series of auctions allowed their release =
    to=20
    the collector world......=E2=80=A6.. many of the nicest/rarest went to Anto=
    n,=20
    Siboni, Ish, and others of monetary ability like DGP.
    =C2=A0The next 5 to 10 years could provide opportunities again. It will be=
    =20
    fun to watch and possibly participate.

    That is a pretty coin! =C2=A0My catalogs are packed away - which Bowers=20
    catalog is that? =C2=A0It's clear that Hodder is the cataloger.
