Hey all,
Was in the right place at the right time. Just walking past a dealer friend as he was purchasing a group lot with this in it. I just 'had to have it'. Long story short, I got it.
Obviously a Caracas, Venezuela (under Gran Colombia) 1818 2R that was clearly overstruck on 'something' else..images attached. Once bought, and home, and researched I determined the undertype to be a Madrid, Spain, 4 Reales of Joseph Napoleon (Vellon)..example attached, check out the undertype which is pretty much the same orientation as the 2R. Why a people would use a good 4R to create a 2R escapes me at the moment?
Clem
