Adelheidsdenare Publique Deposited
A name given to a variety of Deniers which have been found in great quantities in Saxony, though the exact localities where they were struck have never been determined.
These coins have on one side a cross and the name OTTO, and on the reverse a figure of a church and the inscription ateahlht, or similar, whence the designation. Some authorities attribute these to Otto I, king of Germany (936-962) and his queen, Ade- laide or Adelheid, while others ascribe them to Otto III during his minority.
