Aes Signatum Público Deposited
The second type of the Aes, so called because rude stamps or marks are to be found on it, signifying the weight and an approximate value. These are of oblong, square, and oval shapes. They are generally supposed to have originated in the reign of Servius Tullius (B.C. 578- 535), but are more likely of the 5th and 4th centuries B.C.
