Definição
  • A name given to a variety of Batzen issued by Bishop Hugo of Con- stance at the beginning of the sixteenth cen- tury, on account of the figure of three rings or rolling circular lines, which were part of his armorial bearings and which were copied on these coins.

The type was imitated in Italy at Mes- serano, at Carmagnola, at Casale in Monte- ferrato, and by Francesco Trivulzio at Ro- goredo (1518-1523) and the original name was transformed into Rolabasso, or Arla- baso. The Italian coin was current for two Grossi.
