Definition
  • A variety of bradeates issued by the Dukes of Anhalt, who established a mint at Ascania, or As- caria, now Aschersleben, in the eleventh century. They are very difficult to class- ify, being without inscriptions and corre- sponding to the Monnaies Muettes (q.v.).
