Definition

• A Persian word meaning "noble," and applied to a gold coin issued by the Sufi, or Safi, dynasty. It corresponds in approximate size and weight to the Dinar and Sequin. The triple Ashrafi, occasionally struck, received the name of Muhr- Ashrafi. See Altun.
