Bank Note Publique Deposited
A term used to describe a promissory note issued by a bank, and made payable in coin to the bearer on de- mand. It is a circulating medium author- ized by law. Formerly bank notes, or bank bills, as they were sometimes called, were made payable to a particular individual and the date was limited.
