Beshlik Público Deposited

Definição
  • Originally this was a silver coin of the Ottoman Empire of the value of five Paras, and weighing from 20 to 40 grains.

In the modern silver currency of Turkey the Beshlik represents four and three quar- ter Piastres, and in the series of Metalliks, two and one half Piastres.

The Beshlik of Egypt was originally a copper coin of the value of five Aspers or Medins; under Mahmud II (A.H. 1223- 1255) it was made of billon. The issues for Tunis and Tripoli are billon and worth five Paras.
