  • A base English silver coin of the period of Edward I. In the Calendar of Documents relating to Ire- land , circa 1285 (iii. 8), there is a refer- ence stating that the Bishop of Waterford, Stephen de Fulborn, caused new money to be made. It was called Scalding, Bishop's money, or Stephening, from the name of the Bishop. See Brabant.
