Broke Money 上市 Deposited

定義
  • A term used to indi- cate the cut Bracteates, Deniers, and es- pecially Pennies of the Middle Ages. The process of quartering or halving appears to be adapted to the Anglo-Saxon coinage, e.g., to the Pennies of Althelred II (978- 1016), on which the shears or chisel is guided by the cross on the reverse.

The practice of cutting coins was sanc- tioned by Philip VI of France by an ordi- nance of May 29, 1347. See Blanchet, Les Monnaies Coupccs in the Revue Numis- matique (iv. 1). In the Bury Wills , 1463 (repr. 1850, 41), there is a reference to " broke silvir. "
