plural Caroliner. A gold coin of Sweden of the value of ten Francs. The name is probably taken from Charles John XIV (Bernadotte). It was last struck in 1868 by Charles XV.
The same designation is also applied to a silver coin of Sweden issued by Charles XI and Charles XII. See Karolin.
