Casquete Público Deposited
The name given to a gold coin of twenty- four grammes, introduced by Alfonso V, King of Aragon (1416-1458), for Valencia. It varied from previous issues in having the bust of the king substituted for the helmeted shield (Scudo casque). There is a corresponding half known as medio Timbre de Valencia, or medio Casquete. See Engel and Serrure Traite de numismatique du moyen age 1897-1899, (iii. 1346).
