Castellano Pubblico Deposited
The name applied in gen- eral to any gold coin bearing the armorial shield of Castile, but specially to such as were one-fiftieth of the gold mare in weight. Under Pedro I, King of Castile (1350-1368), the Castellano was computed at thirty Maravedis.
