• The Spanish equivalent of the Centime and Centesimo. In Spain it is the one hundredth of the Peseta, and before 1871 it was the one hundredth of the Escudo. It is used in the same rela- tion to a larger coin in Morocco, Vene- zuela, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Re- public.
