Definizione
  • A French gold coin struck originally by Philip IV (1285- 1314) and copied by Edward III in the Anglo-Gallic series. It received this name because the ruler is seated on a Gothic throne or chair of state.

    A similar coin was issued in Germany by Ludwig IV (1314-1347) and the type was copied in the Low Countries under the name of Clinckaert (q.v.).
