Church Tokens Public Deposited

Definition
  • A series of brass or copper counters issued by churches in Sax- ony and other parts of Germany in the seventeenth century. They were common- ly known as Kirchenpfennige, and were sold to the worshippers, who deposited them in the offertory, etc. See, also, Com- munion Tokens.
