The sixth of the Dinar and of the Dirhem: therefore of variable weight in reference to one or the other, and in respect of the varying weights of either. As one sixth of a dinar, it is equal to 12, or to 10, or to 8 habbehs, according to the number of habbehs to the dinar. Hence we find the following relations recorded: = 2 kirats (of silver, i.e., 2 1/3, as there are 14 kirats or 6 daniks to the dirhem); or = 3 1/3 kirats (i.e., in relation to the dinar of 20 kirats) or = 10 habbehs or 40 aruzzehs, i.e., in reference to the dinar or 60 habbehs; or = 12 grains, i.e., in reference to the dinar of 72 habbehs. Five daniks of gold = 11 17/18 dirhems at Bagdad, where the dinar was worth 14 1/3. The danik was the quarter of a dirhem in Khwarizm, afterward 4 1/2.
