  • A base silver coin current in Ireland in the latter part of the thirteenth century. For a time they were accepted in England at the rate of two for a penny, but were prohibited in 1310. W. Heminburgh, in his Chronicon, circa, 1350 (repr. ii. 187), says Monetas . . . pesmni metaii, pollardorum, crocardorun, . . . aquilarum. See Brabant.
