Definition

• A Spanish gold coin first issued in the reign of Ferdinand and Isabella. It is of the size of a Ducat and its value was eleven Reals and one Maravedi or 375 Maravedis. There are quadruples, double, and halves of corresponding values. See Aquila de Oro.
