  • The name given to the gold Pagoda of Mysore by Tipu Sultan in the year A.M. 1216, i.e., 1787, that is the year following his new system of dates based on the Muludi, the year of the birth of the Prophet.

    The name is derived from Omar Faruk, the second Khalifa.
