Definition

• A name given to the silver Scudo struck by Philip II of Spain and his successors for the Duchy of Milan. There are dated specimens as early as 1598, and halves, quarters, and eighths exist.

  The Scudo di Oro of Milan is also occasionally referred to by this name.
