Gobrecht Dollars Publique Deposited
The name given to a series of United States pattern coins struck in 1836, 1838, and 1839, and of which there are twenty varieties.
They receive their name from Christian Gobrecht, who was assistant engraver at the mint in Philadelphia, and whose name appears on some of the specimens.
