Gulden 上市 Deposited
This silver coin was originally of the same weight and value of the Thaler (q.v.). However, in the latter part of the seventeenth century it was reduced in size and made of the value of two thirds of a Thaler or half of a Speciesthaler, which standard it retained with slight modifications until 1871, when the Mark was introduced in Germany.
The terms Gulden and Florin were frequently used synonymously. See Florin and Guilder.
