This word signi- fies a Chamberlain, and the name is given to the Prussian Thaler of Frederick Wil- liam III, struck in 1816, on which the in- scription reads K. V. PREUSS. instead of KOENIG VON PREUSSEN. A Chamberlain named von Preuss was at the royal court in that year.
