Definition
  • A Chinese weight, the pound, which is applied to a cube of gold, each side of which was about an inch square. It is recorded to have been used during the Tchou dynasty, about B.C. 1100.

    The Emperor Wang-Mang (A.H. 9-23 ) re-established it, with a value of ten thou- sand Chien. See Chin.
