Definition
  • A name sometimes given to the Portuguese Bazarucco (q.v.). It is usu- ally found with a large sphere within a circle as the reverse design. There is a corresponding half known as Cepayqua.

    Gerson da Cunha, in Contributions to the History of Indo-Portuguese Numis- matics, 1880 (pp. 11, 22), states that the Cepayqua was struck by Albuquerque at Goa as early as 1510.
