Definition
  • A silver double Groot, struck in Brabant at Maestricht in 1418- 1419, and copied in Holland. The obverse shows a lion sejant enclosed in a hedge, and from this the coin obtains its name. See van der Chijs, Les monnaies des Pays-Bas. 1851-66. (pp. 132, 137, 138). It is also known as the Lion a la Haie.
