Definition
  • A base silver coin of Venice issued at the beginning of the eighteenth century, and current until the termination of the Republic. Its value originally ap- pears to have been thirty Soldi, but the later specimens declined to equivalents of fifteen, ten, and five Soldi, and frequently have the value indicated on the reverse in Roman numerals.
