Mancus Pubblico Deposited

Definizione
  • An Anglo Saxon money of account mentioned in payments as early as the ninth century. An annual tribute of 365 Mancuses was made to the Pope for the maintenance of the English school in Rome, the lighting of St. Peter's, etc. This tribute does not, however, imply 365 coins.
