Mansois Public Deposited

Definition
  • A billon coin struck by Henry V of England in the Anglo-Gallic series (1415-1422). The reverse inscription, MONETA DVPLEX, indicates that it was a variety of the double Tournois.

The name is variously written Mancois, Manceau, Manseau, Monsoys, and in Low Latin Manseus. See Ruding, Annals of the Coinage of Britain. 1840. (i. 260).
