Definição
  • A name given to a class of billon coins struck by France for use in its colonies. Their dates range from about 1738 to 1744, and they were received at various values. Thus in Canada they represented a double Sol of twenty-four Deniers and a Sol of half that value; in the Isles of France and Bourbon they corresponded to three Sols; in the Antilles to two Sous and six Deniers, etc. See Sol and Tampe, and conf. Zay (pp. 65-70), and Wood, in American Journal of Numismatics (xlviii. 129-136).
