Masse d'Or Publique Deposited

Définition
  • A gold coin of France struck only by Philip III (1270-1285) and his successor Philip IV (1285-1314). It has on one side a figure of the king seated on a throne seated and holding in his hand a long sceptre or mace. (Fr. la masse) from which it receives its name.
