Moritzpfennige Público Deposited
The name given to a series of silver coins issued by the Archbishops of Magdeburg from the twelfth to the fourteenth centuries. They have on the obverse a figure of the patron, Saint Mauritius, who is variously represented as standing, or with the bust only. Archbishop Wigmann von Seeburg (1152-1192) struck the largest and most beautiful specimens.
