Saint Andrew Público Deposited
A gold coin of Scotland, first struck in the reign of Robert II (1371-1390), and continued almost uninterruptedly to the second coinage of James V in 1525. It derives its name from the figure of St. Andrew with extended arms which occurs on one side. Its weight varied from thirty-eight to eighty-one grains, and the half in proportion. See Lion.
