Scherf Público Deposited
(Plural Scherfe). A name given to very small silver coins which were valued at the half of a Pfennig. The word means a fraction or fragment, and the designation is most frequently applied to the early and poorly executed coins of Northern Germany, and especially Pommerania and Brandenburg. " Scherfpenige " are mentioned as early as 1369.
