Sestertius Público Deposited

Definição
  • A Roman silver coin of one fourth the weight and value of the Denarius. It bears on the obverse the head of Minerva and the figures IIS, i.e., two and one half Asses; the reverse was the same as on the Denarius.

The Sestertius became the recognized money of account and is consequently frequently referred to as Nummus. Under the Empire it was struck in bronze. See Grand Bronze.
